More naturist news from in and around the world as Germany who traditionally tolerant of nudity and naturists, plan to give naked ramblers their own wilderness path is still some way from the sunny uplands. A campsite manager, Heinz Ludwig, aims to establish Germany's first official naked ramblers' footpath - an 18km (11-mile) route in the Harz Mountains. However it is not supported by the local community.

The onwer of the site was quoted as saying "It's a secluded area, away from traffic, in the GDR people used to bathe there, too."

He says some keen naturists have already tested the trail. The plan is to open it officially next May. A sign has been put up warning those averse to naturism that they might prefer to go elsewhere.

He went onto say; "If you don't want to see people with nothing on then you should refrain from moving on,"

Naturists Fight To Save Homes

More naturist news from around the world as over 100 naturists at Glen Echo Park in Canada are set to fight for their rights under the Residential Tenancies Act in a series of Landlord and Tenant Board hearings in Toronto originally scheduled for October some of which have now been moved forward to September 28th, due to impending sale of the Park on October 1, 2009.

Members of the community located about 50 km north of Toronto were caught off guard when they received a vaguely worded letter in late August from the current owners, Edward and Mary Todorowsky, saying their beloved Park was closing its doors October 1.

When members sought clarification from the Todorowskys, they received only vague and nebulous responses, if any. A registered letter sent by one resident asking clarification was simply ignored.

Members are scrambling to learn what their rights are and what options are available to them, given the sudden muteness of the owners and the numerous written assurances given in recent years that the Park would only be sold to individuals with the clear intent to continue the naturist community.

Lets hope they win through.

New Naturist Beach In Hartlepool

More naturist news from in and around the UK as a move to formally designate a section of a popular beach for naturists is set to be discussed by council chiefs next week.
Hartlepool Borough Council was approached by the Three Rivers Outdoor Club earlier this summer asking for a naturist beach at the south end of Seaton Carew.

The established club, which has around 30 members, claim naturists are an "oft-misunderst minority group" and say there are no designated beaches in the North East.

They also claim it could give the local economy a boost and in a letter to the council, group members suggested designating the section of beach adjacent to Seaton Carew Golf Club, as an ideal spot for a 'clothing optional' area.

Naturist Rally

More naturist news from around the world - Naturist group plans Sunday rally to protest the naturist ban at Trail 6 beach Orange County, which was to begin after Labor Day. A naturist group is asking beach-goers to ditch their clothes and bring signs this weekend to San Onofre's Trail 6 to protest the state's crackdown on public nudity at the state beach.

The announcement comes a day after officials with the state Department of Parks and Recreation said they would begin citing nude sunbathers at the traditionally clothing-optional beach. That nudist group contends the state would violate California law by issuing citations. They say a Superior Court ruling that sides with the naturists will stand until the state's Supreme Court decides to hear an appeal.

State park rangers will attempt to seek voluntary compliance before handing out citations at the beach, which has a more than 20-year tradition of nudity. The rally is scheduled to take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the sound end of Trail 6 beach.

No Speedos Please

More fun naturist news from around the UK - this time as reported by the Daily Express who report - you can’t wear skimpy Speedo trunks at Alton Towers but you’re welcome to swim in the nude. The theme park that banned the swimwear as “too revealing” last month is to host a naturist weekend at its Splash Landings hotel.

Around 400 guests, including many families, will be treated to a naked disco, treasure hunt and bingo, as well as being allowed to frolic in the buff in the Jacuzzi, tropical pool and water slides. The nudist weekend on November 13 is being organised by British Naturism. A spokesperson from Alton Towers was quoted as saying ; “The naturist weekend will be a private affair. Everyone will know what to expect.”

Peng Travel In Trouble

As I reported earlier in the year about the troubled parent group - The future of Travelzest, a tour operator offering holidays ranging from naturist resorts to trips to Cuba and Morocco, is in doubt this weekend after the company failed to secure £2m pledged to it in a fundraising. A source close to the company claims that two shareholders withdrew an offer to inject fresh funds into the company after they tried to change the terms of the deal at the last minute.

AIM-listed Travelzest thought it had raised £5.7m through the issue of new shares, funds it needs to meet lending agreements with its banks. It announced on Friday morning to the stock exchange that investors had approved the share placing.

However, after the market closed in the afternoon, the company said that investors accounting for £2m of the new funds had failed to meet the deadline for paying the money, and that it would need to find an alternative means of securing the funds.

It will be a real shame if Peng are one of the companies to fall by the wayside this year !!!!!

Canada First Naturist Retreat To Close

Some naturist news from around - as reported in the Canadian press this week by this time next month, about 150 nudists will be cast out of the province's oldest naturist retreat because their 100 acres of Eden is being sold to a private owner. The several dozen nudists who live within Glen Echo's grounds on campsites got their eviction notices on Tuesday. The nudist movement in Ontario had its genesis with Glen Echo Park, which was founded in 1955 as a cooperative.

Most in the community got their first taste of naturism at the site, which is nestled along the Oak Ridges Moraine in King Township. In its mid-1990s heyday, as many as 350 families were members. But interest in the movement has sagged across the world in recent years. Glen Echo's owners, Mary and Edward Todorowsky, are approaching 80. Since 2005, they've been trying to sell to someone within the nudist community, who would keep their sanctuary open. But after fours years of trying and several failed offers, the Todorowskys gave up.

The property was sold for a rumoured $2 million. There are three other nudist resorts in and around the GTA – Four Seasons, Ponderosa and Bare Oaks, which is not far from Glen Echo.

As reported in the local UK press recently A naturist club’s secretary believes nudist sites on two Teesside beaches would boost tourism by attracting the “buff pound” and give official status to sites already used for naked bathing. Three Rivers Outdoor club has made two separate applications to Redcar and Cleveland and Hartlepool Councils for two stretches of beach to be set aside for those who prefer their birthday suits to swimsuits.

John Thompson, secretary of Three Rivers Outdoor Club (TROC) for naturists believes nudist colonies in Redcar and Seaton Carew could help boost visitor numbers. He also believes nudist colony status would protect genuine naturists and members of the public from voyeurs and exhibitionists. John said: “We are looking for as many naturist beaches as we can get.

“There are 46 in the UK, mostly concentrated in the South and West coast and there is nothing for the population further up. It would be good for trade in Seaton Carew, Hartlepool and Redcar. It would attract the buff pound.” John believes the proposed nudist areas of North Gare, where the jetty goes out to meet the mouth of the Tees, and the beach adjacent to Seaton Carew Golf Club are secluded from the general public.

Spanish Naturists Kick Off

As reported widely in the Spanish press this week - a naturist group is poised to take legal action against El Ejido council after it banned baring all on its beaches. Naturist associaiton, La Asociación de Naturistas-Nudistas de Andalucía (ANNA) believes that the position taken by El Ejido council is “illegal” and “anti-constitutional” and is currently taking legal advice.

The ban was introduced last December as part of widespread council reforms despite the best efforts of group members. ANNA spokesman, Rafael Ortiz, revealed he wrote to town mayor, Juan Enciso, last summer while the bill was being drawn up, warning him of its illegality and of their intention to challenge it.

Ortiz cited a ruling from the High Court of Andalucia (TSJA) which proved “this current bill only serves to terrorise normal citizens because it has no legal foundation”.

Mayor Enciso has denied ANNA’s claims. He explained: “Nobody challenged this decision while the bill was being drawn up.” He said that nudism was not allowed in any El Ejido beaches and that no official requests had been made to allow the creation of one.

New Naturist Beach To Be Found In Suffolk

More local naturist news from around the UK. With only just a few wees left before one of Britain's oldest nudist beaches is closed, the search is on to find a suitable replacement spot up on the north Suffolk coast. The existing naturist beach at Corton, near Lowestoft, will become a general use area at the end of this summer season because coastal erosion has significantly reduced the amount of sand available for sunbathers.

Now Waveney District Council is speaking to local communities to try and find an alternative site for the naturists along the district's coastline, which stretches from Corton in the north, past Lowestoft to Southwold. In December last year, the council carried out a public consultation before deciding to go ahead with the plans to get rid of the naturist site, and said that they would explore other potential locations which are not as badly affected by erosion.

The new nudist beach would also have to have adequate parking and transport provision, good access to the beach, not be too overlooked and have support from the local community.

At least they have made a commitment to TRY and establish another area for the naturists.

Naked Ramblers Cause a Stir

As reported in the UK National press this week a group of naturist ramblers has sparked controversy by organising walks through popular beauty spots. Unsupecting dog walkers and horseriders encountered the group of 28 nude walkers on the South Downs Way above the Sussex village of South Harting. A lady who was out walking her dog, said: “The chap in the lead said ‘We’re a group of naturist walkers. Do you have any objection to naked bodies?’

A group out horse riding also encountered the ramblers where reported assaying “We thought it was quite funny galloping up from the back of Harting Down to come across this line of bare bottoms with rucksacks."

Martin Bullen, chairman of the Singles Outdoor Club, and a retired design engineer from Frome, Somerset, said “We hold 17 walks a year all over the south on mid-week days to reduce the probability of confronting the general public. It is not our intention to cause distress.”

A spokesman for British Naturism added: “We have many groups who like to get involved in walking. They have no wish to cause trouble and simple nudity is specifically not an offence under the 2003 Sexual Offences Act.”

Government to look at naturists’ claim for equality

As reported in the UK press today Harriet Harman is set to embrace yet another minority group who claim to be victims of discrimination – naturists. The Government Equalities Office, which is overseen by Labour’s deputy leader, is promoting claims that devotees of naturism and nudist campsites suffer prejudice equivalent to that experienced by gays, ethnic minorities and the elderly.

A submission written by British Naturism has been included in a review into discrimination. “Naturists encounter prejudice in employment,” it reads. “This is a particular problem for people in the caring professions and education. Any occupation requiring an enhanced Criminal Record Bureau check is potentially a serious problem.”

Naturism has spawned a thriving leisure industry referred to as “the buff pound”. As well as more than 100 naturist-friendly campsites across the UK, there are an array of luxury cruises where clothing is optional. In November Alton Towers, the Midlands theme park, will host its fourth “naturists only”

Skinny Dip '09 numbers announced

As reported in the World Press this week - The AANR (American Association for Nude Recreation) has announced that an inspiring 13,648 people participated in the baseline-setting skinny dipping record for the Guinness Book of World Records. As a wrap-up of Nude Week, 2009, naturist clubs across North America participated in this event on July 11 by encouraging their members and visitors to take a nude dip at exactly the same time.

Each resort then forwarded its count to AANR and the total was released on August 20. AANR resorts hope to beat their 2009 numbers next year in what will probably become an annual record-breaking attempt .

Its Is Off For The Wyre Naturists

As reported earlier this week in the UK press the plug has been pulled on plans for the area's first naturist camping festival, due to have been held next month in the grounds of an historic Over Wyre hall. Former Blackpool North Tory MP Dr Harold Elletson of Parrox Hall, Preesall, had agreed to rent part of his 300 acres for the 'Nudefest' organised by British Naturism (BN).
But the event – scheduled for September 11 to 13 – failed to pull in enough people and has now been cancelled.

BN said that by the time the deadline for confirmed bookings for the Nudefest ended there had not been enough takers to make the event worthwhile. BN had said earlier this year they needed "a significant number of confirmed bookings" to ensure it went ahead. This week their spokesman Andrew Welch said the fact that the event was in mid-September could have made nudist campers worried about the possibility of cold or wet weather.

BN hoped scores of caravan and tent owning naturists would camp in the grounds of the old hall, which has been in the Elletson family for generations. They had also indicated local people were welcome to join BN and attend what they called a "unique gathering".

Welsh Naturists Get The Boot

As reported in the UK National press this week, naturists have been warned that they are not welcome on a seven-mile long beach which is popular with families. Police and rangers will patrol during summer in uniforms and plain clothes at Cefn Sidan in Carmarthenshire, and CCTV will also be used. "No Nudism" signs have been defaced, and officials say the area is attracting both those with sexual motives and genuine naturists.

British Naturism said the authorities should work with them. Carmarthenshire council, which manages the beach and the nearby Pembrey Country Park, said naturists had been visiting Cefn Sidan since the 1960s, but nudism was not and never had been permitted. An area of Morfa Dyffryn, near Barmouth in Gwynedd, is the only official nude sunbathing area in Wales.

Key West Might Get A Naturist Beach

News just in for all you international naturists. Key West -- The come-as-you-are island city of Key West features a nude rooftop bar, guest houses with clothing-optional pools and the 10-day, world-famous debauchery known as Fantasy Fest, where body paint passes as clothing. On the island's public beaches, though, going au naturel has been illegal since 1983.

That might change soon. A group of naturists is campaigning to amend the city's nudity ordinance to allow a section of city-owned beach to go nude. City Commissioner Bill Verge plans to propose at this week's city commission meeting an Oct. 6 referendum. Advocates say the change could bring more tourists to the cash-strapped city.

Monroe County Commissioner Sylvia Murphy liked the idea when it surfaced in April. ''No one visiting us [from other countries] understands why we are such prudes,'' she said.

One Last Summer For Naturists

As reported in the California press, naturist beachgoers will have one last summer to sunbathe in the buff on a strip of San Onofre State Beach. State parks officials say they will give nude sunbathers verbal warnings that clothing isn't optional on the 1,000-foot stretch of beach, officials say nudists will be cited after that and arrested if necessary. This ends a long battle to keep the beach 'clothing optional'.

California officials decided to crack down on the nudity at the 1,000 foot stretch of beach last year. Parks officials said they were rescinding their longtime policy because of an increasing number of complaints from the public of lewd behavior. Nudists have frequented the beach at the south end of the state beach near Camp Pendleton for more than thirty years.

Cover Up At Cannes

As reported in the International press this today the French resort, home to the world's most famous film festival, has issued a decree banning naturism on the Mediterranean seafront after wealthy yacht owners complained that acres of bare tanned flesh were lowering the tone. Municipal spokesman Iris Perben said that the council had reissued an order reminding sun-worshippers that nudity is banned on all Cannes beaches, except those on the island of Sainte Marguerite.

Cannes Yacht Club commodore Jean-Claude Montesinos told the local newspaper, Nice-Matin, saying there are sailing schools in the area. "When the kids go out on the club house terrace to judge the wind the first thing they see is a row of bare bottoms.' 'Ms Perben said town police will be empowered to fine nude sunbathers.

Naturism On The Increase?

There were a number of articles in the UK press this week quoting the BNF as reporting that calls and enquiries to naturists clubs had gone through the roof. With the scorching sun and the weather becoming humid there has been a stiff increase in the number of people frequenting this nudist beaches. According to the British Naturism Foundation, the number of people contacting its sun clubs and nudist beaches rose from 2,000-a-week to 12,000 as temperatures rose to more than 86F (30C).

The craze of getting once body tan seemed to be one of the main reasons for the rise among the people. The Telegraph quoted spokesman Andrew Welch, as saying, "It's been staggering, much more than the usual levels of interest we get". He adds: "And the rise is mainly through women wanting that perfect tan, particularly the younger generation."

No Nude Down Under

Tourism Central Australia (TCA) has dropped out of negotiations over the creation of a nudist resort near Alice Springs. The idea of a resort was raised last year via an anonymous phone call to the organisation asking them to gauge the public's reaction. A homestead about 70 kilometres east of Alice Springs was considering the idea. TCA's Peter Grigg said he has now done all he can to push the part time nudist venture and it is up to the owners of the homestead as to what they decide.

"They are, as I'm aware at this point in time, trying to determine what their markets will be and will chase those markets," he said. "The primary interest for them at the moment is the four-by-four market, just because it's placed out there on the Binns Track and it's a spectacular part of the world to do any four-by-four activity."

Studland In The News Again.

Studland Beach was in the press again today as 3 new ‘Community Wardens,’ highly visible in bright yellow t-shirts, have begun patrolling Studland’s beaches to make all visitors and local residents feel even safer. The National Trust managed seashore has welcomed naturists for more than 90 years. The 800 metre long section known is the National Trust’s only nudist beach and is popular with people of all ages and with families. However, from time to time reports are made of sexual misconduct or activity that threatens to bring naturism into disrepute.

Safer Neighbourhood Sergeant Des Connor was reported as saying : “Between summer 2005 and summer 2008, nine sexual offences were recorded in the Studland area and we want to keep this number as low as possible.”

To combat this Dorset Police has teamed up with The National Trust and Studland Beach Users’ Action Group (SBUAG) to provide wardens, who have been given training by Dorset Police and The National Trust. They will patrol Studland peninsula throughout July and August and offer help and advice to beach users.

Sergeant Connor added: “The Studland peninsula is a very safe place where families can enjoy the summer. This new multi-agency approach will make the beach area even safer.”

Naturists Lose Beach Battle In California

As reported in the US press today, a group of nudists who want to keep San Onofre State Beach's Trail 6 a clothing-optional beach have lost their latest legal battle, after a panel of justices at the 4th District Court of Appeal ruled that a policy that addresses nudity at state beaches is invalid. The ruling favored state officials who last spring decided to crack down on a more than 20-year tradition of nude sunbathing at the 1,000-foot stretch of beach.

Park officials said the agency followed the rules and did not violate any policy because they said they never set aside a designated area for nudity. They contend public nudity is not allowed on state beaches. Instead, state officials said, they chose to look the other way and allowed public nudity at the beach until they started getting complaints. Officials said the naturists have to adhere to a code in state law called nudity prohibited, which states that "no person shall appear nude while in any unit except in authorized areas set aside for that purpose by the department."

Seahorse Stir At Studland Bay

Hello all you UK Naturists - hope you are enjoying the sunshine today I know I am. Earlier in the month I blogged a story about the seahorses found at Studland Bay. Well now a row has broken out over a protection zone to save the seahorses off my favourite bit of Dorset coastline. A voluntary anchor-free zone is being introduced at Studland Bay which is now home to the country’s largest breeding seahorse colony. It is planned that wardens will patrol and photograph the area to create a map of boating activity during the busy summer season.

Experts will then compare data from the seagrass in the anchor-free zone and a control zone where boats can anchor to judge the impact on the seahorse territory. But locals fear it will turn in to a ‘naming and shaming’ exercise with boats that are anchored in the bay named on the internet. They also believe the seagrass and seahorses are thriving as they and should be left alone - just a nature intended.

On a more practical note local people also argue that the village will suffer economically if the hundreds of boats that come each weekend in summer decide to stay away.

We will just have to wait and see what happens with this one !!!!

Hampshire Girls Bare All For Calendar

I spotted this bit of naked fun (which is all for a great cause) in our local paper today. It reported that a hampshire young lady is helping dozens of women strip off for a saucy calendar to help raise cash for our injured servicemen and women. Apparently Kelly Monk came up with the idea for the British Forces SWAG Calendar after deciding to support a campaign by her local paper "Daily Echo" Help for Heroes.

So far more than 30 ladies from across the country, including six from the Hampshire are, have all agreed to strip off for the semi-nude calendar which is currently in the process of being shot. All of the calendar girls have partners or husbands currently in the armed forces and will be wearing either Army, Navy, RAF or marine headgear in the photos.

Nude Vollyball Tournament

Here are some details of a naturist event detailed in the Canadian press. Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park is inviting the general public to participate in the 3rd annual Greater Toronto Naturist Volleyball Tournament. (July 1st to 5th) While participants do not have to be naturists/nudists to play, they must play nude. Whether that will put them at a disadvantage is yet to be determined.

Nudity in sports is a tradition that goes back thousands of years to the first Olympics. The Greek root of "gymnasium" is gymnos which means "nude". When liberated of clothing, the body is free to perform to its natural maximum. Volleyball and naturism/nudism is almost a cliché. But it is true that the sport has been incredibly popular within the naturist/nudist community and its roots can be traced back to 1927 in France.

Naked Rambler In Court Again

In famous/infamous naturist Stephen Gough was forced to go undercover today at Perth Sheriff Court. The naturist, who the press has been dubbed ‘The Naked Rambler’, was arrested after he was found walking nude through the Fair City’s Edinburgh Road late last week. However in court the ex-marine, who has previously served prison sentences for exposing himself in public, refused to cover up when he was due to appear before Sheriff Michael Fletcher in the Tay Street dock. After Gough’s agent William Somerville grew exasperated at Gough’s lack of co-operation and washed his hands of the case an intermediate date was set for July 2 and a trial on July 16.

Naturist cruises on the increase

According to a recent report in Britain’s Sunday press, nudist cruises are on the increase. Cruising in the buff has been popular with Americans for some time now, but naturist cruise specialists are reporting an upsurge in guests from other countries, particularly Britain, from where some travel agents are booking 50% more clothes-free customers than they were a year ago.

Nudist cruises, or clothing-optional cruises, are always private charters of cruise ships. Some of the most popular are the romantic square-riggers of Star Clippers; Texas-based naturist cruise agent Bare Necessities has been quick to snap up a fortnight on Star Flyer, one of Star Clippers’ three ships, which will be based permanently in Tahiti. The lure of the Pacific islands is obviously a strong one, as the cruise has already sold out.

Naturist Charity Calendar

In the local press today in Wiltshire naturist Mike Gould is definitely happy in his own skin so has no qualms in helping out and stripping off for a charity calendar. The 67-year-old and his naturist friends can be seen in the forthcoming 2010 calendar baring all in the snow, hanging out in gardens and getting all over body tans in the sun. The calendar’s naked models aim to raise £600 for charity Action for Blind People and have already reached £140.

Mike, of Severn Avenue, Greenmeadow, feels comfortable just pottering around in the nude at home and indded in his garden but would never venture into public. “I do all my gardening in the nude,” Mike was quoted as saying. “Our garden is totally secluded – it is not overlooked.

This is Mike’s third charity calendar – he raised money for the Prospect Hospice in 2007 and Action for Blind People last year. He started the calendar as an alternative way to raise money, as a heart bypass a few years ago now prevents him from taking part in other fundraising activities like running a marathon.

The Naked Bike Ride Is A World Event

Hello UK naturists looks like the weather is picking up for us. Well it seems that the naked bike ride really is a global event - I found this little snippet in the Washington Post today. Tour de France? More like Tour sans Pants. Under semi-sunny skies, the District's run of the fourth annual World Naked Bike Ride kicked off yesterday from Franklin Square downtown. Technically, folks on hand for the event weren't naked. D.C. has laws against indecent exposure, after all.

But several of the 30 or so riders found creative ways around that. A special tent was set up so riders could shed their street clothes and, using latex paint and other techniques, prepare for the ride in privacy.

"This is good for awareness," said Chris Bracken, 24, of the District, who, along with two friends, was participating in her first naked ride. "Nudity is always a good way to get someone's attention. The goal of the two-mile trip downtown was to protest oil dependency and promote bicycles as a transportation alternative. Of course, there are ways to make these statements while wearing clothes, but let's face it -- they're not nearly as attention-getting

Over 150 Naked Biker riders In Southampton

Hello you naturists - well despite it getting more than a little chilly yesterday evening and wearing nothing but their safety helmets, scores of cyclists took to the streets of Southampton for the third annual Naked Bike Ride. Much to the amazement of of the general public, around 150 brave activists stripped off for the protest ride, campaigning about both our car culture and dependency on oil.

With many of the riders sporting little more than colourful slogans and pictures, the riders also aimed to highlight the vulnerability of cyclists on the roads. The whole thing looked great !!! The ride started and finished at Southampton Common, but left a trail of both bemused and amused onlookers in their wake on a six-mile course through Portswood and the city centre.

Organiser Rob Jordan told the local press: “It’s a protest and a demonstration, but a joyous one, and we generally find that people give us a really warm reception.

And well done to all of them - it really was a great sight to see !!!!

Naked Bike Ride Hits Southampton

Hello all you local Hampshire naturists. Todays sees another leg in the UK naked bike ride tour and this time it is here is sunny Southampton. For those of you you do not have the details and want to take part here they are : The assembly point is on the eastern side of Southampton Common, in the clearing next to Highfield Road and opposite the junction with Omdurman Road. It's also close to the pedestrian underpass if you are approaching from the western side of the Common. If you are using a GPS device, the closest postcode is SO17 1BF.

At 6.30pm the ride will hit the streets of Southampton on our beautiful bikes. If you have roller blades, skateboards or other (non-carbon emitting) wheels feel free to use them. The ride will take about an hour most likely. The dress code is as follows : Come as bare as you dare. Nudity makes a great statement, and many of us will be completely naked, but if you're more comfortable in a little clothing, that's fine too. In previous years, riders have worn shorts, bras, swimwear, body paint, wigs, sunglasses etc. Most wear footwear and bring bags to carry clothes. Body painting and adornment, customised bikes and other creative expression are all strongly encouraged.

in brief the route will be: North on Highfield Road, right into Highfield Lane, turn right into Portswood Road. Follow Portswood Road / Bevois Valley Road / Onslow Road to Dorset Street and the Charlotte Place (Jury's Inn) roundabout. Take third exit into E Park Terrace. Continue down Palmerston Road and Queensway. Turn left on Bernard Street then bear right into Oxford St. Second left into John Street and left again on Bernard Street. Continue on Bernard Street until turning right onto the High Street. Continue straight on into Above Bar (dismount in pedestrian section if appropriate). At the traffic lights at the top of Above Bar, turn left and then immediately right into Bedford Place (passing The Art House). Third right on Carlton Crescent, then left into Rockstone Place. Turn left onto The Avenue. At Cowherds, take cycle path through The Common, past the pond, then right to the underpass. Finish at the start location on the eastern part of the Common.

Get Naked In County Kerry

As reported in the local press today, naturists calling for the creation of a nudist beach at Inch strand are claiming the ban on nude bathing in Kerry is costing the local tourism industry thousands in lost revenue. Ahead of last Friday's local elections the Irish Naturist Association (INA) repeated their call on Kerry County Council to provide a "clothing optional" beach facility at Inch strand. The organisation sent letters to the county manager and all local election candidates seeking their support for a nudist area at Inch Strand.

According to the INA, naturists have been using Inch for nude sunbathing for years without any compliant from the public and now they are seeking official permission to turn a section of the popular beach into a nudist area.

INA president Pat Gallagher says that creating a naturist area at Inch could be worth a fortune to the local tourist economy.

"Such facilities are common place in almost all other EU member countries and are frequented by the many millions of European naturists. Naturist tourism generates billions of euros each year across Europe and is one of the fastest growing tourist segments worldwide," he said.

"We receive numerous inquiries from naturists each year as to where it would be possible to use beach facilities as part of their holiday should they come to Ireland. We have to advise that no such facilities are provided by local authorities. We are certain that many potential tourists are lost to Ireland because no such facilities exist," he said.

Studland Not Just For Naturists

Move over all you naturists - you have got new neighbours at Studland Bay. The Seahorse Tust has been monitoring a number of sites around the UK, one of which is in Studland Bay in Dorset which has turned out to be a site of International importance. Our coordinators for Dorset, Steve Trewhella and Julie Hatcher, discovered Seahorses on the site in 2005 and since then we have made a number of amazing discoveries about British Seahorses and particularly this site.

Despite the longevity of the survey and the amount of knowledge we have already gained we need to know more about these very elusive animals and their secretive lives and Studland Bay gives us a unique opportunity to do this.

The British Seahorse Survey was set up in 1994 and is the longest running continuous survey of its kind in the world; it's this longevity that has allowed us to gain a greater insight into the world of two of the British Isles most enigmatic fish species.

Singles Outdoor Club Naturist Walks

Yet another intersting Naturist Website I cam across over the weekend. You might be surprised to find out that it is possible to enjoy walking in the remoter parts of the countryside of South East England in the nude. The fact is that few people wander further than 200 yards from a car park. We often walk for several hours without meeting anybody and - weather permitting - have been able to remain nude for 80% or more on many of our walks which range from 9 to 12 miles.

The object of these walks is to enjoy the exhilaration of walking without the encumbrance of clothing. We are not planning to make any sort of political point, or to make any sort of challenge to other members of the public. It is our policy to carry "cover-up" garments which we put on when we cross a road, see other walkers approaching us from a distance, or realise that we are about to pass farmers working in their fields. Just occasionally we meet someone without warning, and just greet them with a cheerful "good afternoon." As far as we know we have not given offence to anyone in the 14 years that our walks programme has been in existence.

The walks programme for this year is now prepared and an outline is published on this site. If you would like to take part in these walks why not join SOC now, and you will receive full details of the walks as well as a wealth of information about other club activities. Travel firm founder in hot water

As widely reported in the Financial press Travel Industry Chris Mottershead veteran finds himself defending his reputation. The travel industry chief who uncovered the mainsteam possibilities of naturist holidays is battling to save his reputation. Chris Mottershead was suspended in April after Travelzest, the company he founded, announced it was investigating an alleged “potential misappropriation of company funds”.

The heads of Travelzest’s various divisions - which include a naturist holiday operation, package trips to Cuba, and French villa hire - are to meet in London this month for what would normally be a routine management round table.

Peng Travel is the UK’s leading provider of naturist holidays. Founded in 1971, it pioneered the provision of package holidays from the UK to genuine naturist destinations around the world. Peng Travel was swallowed up by Travelzest when it was purchased by Travelzest back in May 2006

Sources close to the company suggest that those leading the probe are “no nearer knowing when it will conclude than they were when it started” and details of the inquiry are, to say the least, sketchy.

Meanwhile, Mottershead has come out fighting, denying having done anything wrong. He has instructed solicitors to sue Travelzest for defamation on the basis of its statement to the stock exchange announcing the investigation.

Whilst the share price of Travelzest has been effected by this it is not thought that any holidays will be.

Celebrities back plans to expand naturism on Hampstead Heath

As reported in the local Uk press today, 100's of naturist campaigners including Julian Clary and human rights protestor Peter Tatchell are backing a scheme to increase the area for nude male sunbathing on Hampstead Heath. A petition with more than 1,000 signatures will be presented to the new Chairman of the Heath today (Thursday) calling for greater space for the naturists, expanding the small concrete plot they currently use next to the changing room at the men's swimming pond.

The campaign appeared in its early days on the letters pages of the Ham&High last May, when naturist Michael Peacock complained about the lack of space. Now, a year on, he is hoping he has enough public and celebrity support to free the nudists.

The 50-year-old bather said: "Last year the Ham&High published my letter and a cartoon on the subject and it's all kicked off from there. I, like many others, sent off my comments to the City of London Corporation but they were totally ignored. I decided to try to get something done and set up a petition." A total of 1,061 people are now backing his bid, which will be presented to the new chairman of the Heath Management Committee, Michael Welbank, at the bathing enclosure this morning.

Browsing through the web I came across this great naturist website http://motorcyclenudes.org . Here is some information about them (which I hope they do not mind me putting here). Motorcyclenudes.org is a web-based “club” for naturists who are also motorcyclists. The Motorcyclenudes site now has coverage of our past events, pictures of members and their bikes, and much more in the memberzone. We have only been in existence for around four years, and so are still building our content.

"Motorcyclenudes has already held several nude bike rallies in the UK. Motorcyclenudes.org is a site aimed at naturists who are also motorcyclists. We are UK based, and activities are limited to the shores of Britain (at least they are for now!) Hampshire Naturists Get It Hot

Naturists in the Hampshire area hit the jackpot again this weekend as the county basked in scorching temperatures again yesterday. Weather forecasters predicted that the mercury would climb to 27C (81F), the hottest day of the year so far. People grabbed their buckets and spades and flocked to the beach yesterday to make the most of “wall-to-wall” sunshine. It really was very very hot and so much sunshine.

Travel experts said there was congestion on roads leading to most coastal areas.

Traffic Masters head of travel Ross Gould said the A31 westbound through the New Forest towards Bournemouth and Poole had the most notable problems. He said: “The beachside resorts are hotspots for the holiday traffic. In the UK if there is any hint of sunshine people head straight to the coast.”

Matt Dobson, forecaster at MeteoGroup, said yesterday's highest temperatures fell short of the 26.5C (80F) reached on Friday, which was the hottest day of the year so far.

He added that the south enjoyed temperatures of up 21C (70F) by the sea.

OK You Naturists Its Official

OK all you naturists out there its official. Officials issue heatwave advice. People need to make sure they have a fair weather friend they can call on for aid in the event of a heatwave this summer, officials have advised. The Department of Health's Heatwave Plan urges everyone to be aware of the health risks faced by elderly friends and relatives during a hot spell.

The Met Office says it is too early to tell whether it will be a very hot summer this year, but the signs so far are that it will be warmer than our last two summers and conditions could well trigger its heatwave warning system.

In London, this would mean daytime temperatures had exceeded 32C and night-time temperatures were over 18C degrees. In the North West, it would be 30C and 15C, respectively.

Wayne Elliott, Head of Health Forecasting at the Met Office, said: "Summer is nearly with us and it's a good time to prepare for the high temperatures that we can experience in this country.

Hello there all you Hampshire and Dorset naturists. OK. todays the day. It is sunny and not a cloud in the sky. Just checked the BBC website and fthe forecast for today is fantastic. A massive 24c. Has the summer arrived early for us all. Not too sure about that - but hey it is a Saturday and the sun is shining and it is blumming hot. Well there is only 1 thing for it - get in the car and drive down to Studland. Cant wait!

Naturist Beaches In The UK : Newborough Warren - Malltraeth Bay - Anglesey

Described as having "breathtaking landscape and unspoilt sands" and " superb views of Snowdonia and the Lleyn Peninsular" this is one of several beautiful beaches along this part of the coast. Newborough Warren is also a nature reserve. The beach itself is of fine, golden sand, backed by dunes. On-shore winds from the Irish Sea can be a problem at times. It is said that most naturists gather in the area to the south of the car park - midway between Llanddwyn Island and Abermenai Point:

"At high season - textiles do walk along here sometimes - just be sensible and don't be obvious. If you see the warden coming along the beach in his 4x4 - cover up - he is known to get just a tad irate! This area does have a regular gay group - but as a woman I feel safer amongst them than amongst "straight" people! Waters here are sheltered, and quite warm as the tide goes out, with shallow pools that you can wallow in. Views are unbelievably fantastic - especially on a sunny evening."

Getting There

OS Map Ref: SH 387 640

From the Menai Bridge on the A5, take the A4080 south to the village of Newborough (Niwbwrch). From there, a road - signposted "To the Beach / Traeth" - leads south to a car park on the coast - approx. 2 miles. This Forestry Commission road is subject to a toll ( £2.00 in 1999 - effectively includes parking charge).

Walk from the car park on to the beach and turn right (heading North in the direction of Llandwyn Island) towards the rocky promontory at Llanddwyn Island. Beyond this lies Malltraeth Bay and an area used by naturists - "a beautiful but plain, exposed and windy beach with open water." The walk from the car park is two to three miles in total.

Sure, people did it, and they rarely faced any problems, but officials could have theoretically cracked down on it at any time.

It’s worth noting here that going totally naked on the beach is still considered different than just women going topless. Going topless is almost de rigeur on the beaches of Europe, and there isn’t a separate beach for topless sunbathers as there are often separate nude beaches. On most beaches in Italy, women can (and do) go topless, mixed in amongst women who keep both halves of their suits on. At first it can be an exciting or even fearful experience simply due to the mental attitude or baggage we bring with us. Naturism In The News : Naturist Beach For Key West

A poll for a naturist beach at Key West has shown that at least one segment of the Key West business community has spoken: Eighty percent of 225 tourism-based business owners surveyed say they support a clothing-optional beach in the Southernmost City. More specifically, of the supporters, 48 percent say "Key West needs a clothing-optional beach" and 31 percent say they "support the concept of a clothing-optional beach but only if it is located out of view."

Eleven percent of responders either were against or were leaning toward being against a clothing-optional beach, while the rest of the responders didn't care one way or the other.

Earlier this week, Key West Innkeeper's Association President Ian Whitney distributed the surveys to businesses and has since compiled and released the results. Those who were surveyed include the owners of guesthouses, retailers, restaurants and attractions.

"We think it's important to give our members the opportunity to share their opinions on whether or not to have a clothing-optional beach in Key West," Whitney said. "The survey results show that, while there are differences of opinion on this issue, there isn't much controversy."

As reported in last weeks Daily Telegraph - A naturist who liked to cycle along a seafront with only a small piece of fabric shielding his modesty has been ordered to desist by a district judge
Anthony Harris, 54, was twice stopped by police officers wearing nothing but the small piece of material on the Marina in St Leonards, East Sussex.

District Judge Roger Ede, sitting at Hastings magistrates' court, told Harris that he must not go for his coastal rides unless he covers up with at least a pair of swimming trunks. Judge Ede imposed a sexual offences prevention order banning Harris, of St Leonards, from appearing anywhere in public without trousers, short trousers or swimming trunks fully covering his genitals and buttocks.

The order, which is similar to an anti-social behaviour order, will last for five years.

Nigel Barry, Sussex Police's ASBO coordinator, said: "Obviously the sight of a nearly naked man cycling along the seafront, naturist or not, would be enough to potentially cause alarm or distress. "As such, the matter was referred to the Anti Social Behaviour Team and we decided that an application was just and proportionate. The District Judge agreed."

Well if nothing else - lets hope he had a comfortable saddle ....

The clubhouse is a large communal building, with an expansive sunny deck. It has a large open area, with a table tennis table and darts, as well as a small library. Indoor bowls are also played at times. This area leads to a comfortable lounge, with log burner, TV, pool table and bar facilities. The clubhouse is used for many club functions and also has a kitchen designed to cater for these occasions.

There is a 15x6 metre solar heated swimming pool, which has a slide for the children and sail for shade on a hot sunny day. The spa/sauna complex is available all year round for members use. These are situated close to the clubhouse. The large BBQ area has recently been refurbished and is a lovely sunny spot in the late afternoon, when many members meet to socialise over a drink while cooking their evening meal.

There are two large gas BBQs and two burners for cooking vegetables, with a sink and an electric jug to make tea and coffee. The whole cooking area is covered by a huge umbrella.

A long way to go but sounds really nice .....

The Sundays threw up this story today. Unwitting visitors to an historic Lancashire hall could be in for a big surprise later this year. For a huge band of naturists are to set up camp in the grounds of Parrox Hall, Preesall, near Preston, in September for the 'Nudefest' festival – and it is all with the blessing of its owner, a former Tory MP. Dr Harold Elletson, who was a former county councillor for Over Wyre.

He has given the thumbs-up for scores of caravan and tent-owning naturists to camp in the grounds of the old hall, which dates back to before the 1400s. Dr Elletson said the idea came after he was approached by a radio presenter who compered a music festival there last year and said it would be a good location for the Nudefest.

He added: "We will be very pleased if they turn up in large numbers, if it generates income.

Naturism In The News : UK - Naturists lose their fight to go naked on the beaches

As widely reported in the UK press in the last day or so. Britain's army of naturists find themselves battling on the sandy and shingled margins to protect a cherished way of life. They have issued a war cry – claiming they are suffering unlawful and discriminatory treatment – following news that Britain's longest-serving nudist beach in Corton, near Lowestoft, is to be shut because of coastal erosion. Waveney District Council confirmed yesterday that the area would be "de-designated" from November following a consultation.

The announcement that one of the last 10 remaining official naturist beaches is to disappear comes just days after nudists were urged to ignore warnings that they face prosecution should they continue to use a stretch of sand near Bridlington, East Yorkshire ,which has been a popular destination for sun clubs and naked bathers for decades.

Andrew Welch of British Naturism, which has 11,000 members and represents the interests of an estimated 1.5 million practising nudists, believes that what is essentially a healthy and harmless pastime is under attack from a culture which discriminates against them. He insists that anyone wishing to strip off in public is not doing anything wrong according to the law and that heavy-handed authorities are in the vanguard of a general crackdown on the pursuit.

Sherry Stafford Loibl of the Internaturally cruise provider told the newspaper that it doesn't take too long to become acclimatised. "Remember to look people in the eyes. Once you feel comfortable, you can look them up and down to see what they look like, just as you would if they were wearing clothes. It usually takes a day before someone is relaxed," she said.

Naturist Beaches In The UK : Winterton Dunes - Horsey - Norfolk

More on naturist beaches in the UK. Winterton Dunes are located a few miles miles north of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk and cover a wide area between the Norfolk Broads and the coast. The dunes are a nature reserve. North of the dunes, naturists are also said to use a section of the beach adjacent to Horsey. A large area of dunes and clean, sandy beach with ample space for all and lots of scope for walking. Suitable for couples and singles and possibly families with children - but don't expect to go paddling nude. As with most beaches along the East Coast, an onshore wind from the North Sea can be a problem, so windbreaks are recommended. The Norfolk Broads provide an alternative attraction if the wind is too strong.

Please remember that this beach is unofficial. Keep to the dune area - or you may offend poeple. It is also a major RSPB reserve - on the beach is where the terns breed - so don't leave litter and take great care where you walk.

How to get there :From Great Yarmouth travel north on the A149 past Caister-on-Sea (ignore the turning for the A1064 at West Caister). About 1 mile further on, where the road turns sharply left, leave the A149 and continue north on the B1159 towards Winterton-on-Sea. This is two and half miles further on, after passing Newport and Hemsby.

At Winterton continue northward until the road turns inland at the church (worth a visit if you are interested in local history). At this point turn toward the sea (right), along the road beyond where it narrows and past a Spar shop. Eventually you will reach the car park. [£2 for the day].

Leaving the car walk east to the seashore and turn northwards [left]. Either cut down to the sea and walk along, or walk behind the dunes, for approximately 10-15 mins. Naturist use begins just beyond the point at which erosion has exposed a concrete base.

Alternatively, continuing north on the B1159 will bring you to the village of Horsey. From the car park at Horsey Nature Reserve, you can gain access to the beach and walk south along the disused railway line until it turns inland, at which point you should be close to the unofficial naturist beach.

I came across this article posted in the American press talking about back pain and massage. Eighty percent of us have suffered from back pain at one point or another, and anyone who has knows how tough it can be to treat. Consumer Reports just surveyed more than 14,000 people who've suffered from lower-back pain to find out which treatments are the most helpful. The survey shows that many people who visited a chiropractor were happy with the results. Almost 60 percent of those who tried chiropractic manipulation said it helped a lot. And about the same percentage of people were highly satisfied with their chiropractor.

Also rated very helpful in the survey were other hands-on therapies, such as massage as well as physical therapy. And those treatments were rated more helpful than over-the-counter or even prescription medication. If nothing is working to relieve your pain, surgery is a consideration. But how happy you are with the results will probably depend on your diagnosis. And always proceed with caution. More than 50 percent of respondents reported a problem with recovery from surgery, for example, finding it longer and more painful than they had expected. And 16 percent said their back pain didn't improve at all after surgery.

Finally, 44 percent of those surveyed found exercise helpful, making it the highest-rated self-help treatment.

Calling All Naturists - The Sun Is Finally Out

Hello there all you naturists - is that the sun we can see in the sky? Wlle after what seems like weeks of waiting the sun is finally out here on the South Coast. Yesterday was an absolutely beautiful day - and yesterday afternoon was definitively sunbathing weather. The forecast for to day is similar with highs of 18C for this afternoon but as aver we are going to have to make the most of it quickly down here on the Coast. Surprise surprise the forecast for the weekend is raining rain and more rain. It looks like Friday is going to be the best day for the sun although it is not as warm.

I spotted this article in the press and thought this bit of nude news was quite funny, the headline reads Richard Branson Invents New Sport: Kite Surfing With Naked Lady. Draping himself with naked ladies is all in a day's work for Virgin founder Richard Branson. For a photoshoot on Necker Island, his private paradise in -- where else? -- the British Virgin Islands, Branson posed kite surfing while draped with model Denni Parkinson. What's amazing is that he still seems to be focused on the surfing bit. Branson also hit the headlines recently when he reported clashed with Virgin-sponsored Formula 1 driver Jenson Button over his paying too much attention to Button's girlfriend
